Display Two Parts of a Microsoft Word Document Simultaneously

Did you know you can split the display window horizontally so that you can view and work on two separate parts of a Microsoft Word document at the same time? I found this to be very helpful when working on long documents.

In versions 97-2003, click on the Window menu and then select Split. A horizontal bar will appear that you can position anywhere on the screen.

Select a location with the mouse and click. You will then have two panes and two areas of your document that you can work with simultaneously. Text can then be easily moved from one part of the document to the other.

When you want to revert back to one pane, click on the Window menu and select Remove Split.

Excellent tip, Jackie! For Word 2007-2010 users, click the View tab on the Ribbon, then click Split.
