Open Word, Get Document 1 and Document 2

When I open Microsoft Word 2007, 2 blank documents based on my company's template open instead of only 1. If I remove the template link, then my keyboard shortcuts, macros and auto text items do not work.

I would like to be able to open Word 2007 and have 0 or 1 blank document auto open. Any ideas?
