Repetition of a Word in a Document using Macros

A long time ago, while I was using WordPerfect in a DOS environment, there was a way to create what they called I think a "macro". This was useful when a word or a group of word was recurrent in a document. I remember using the "Ctrl" button + the name of the macro (often just a letter, like Ctrl-G) to get the word/group of words written automatically. It prevented us to have to retype the word/group of words at each occurrence.

I'm now trying to do the same thing in Word 2007, but the so-called "macros" do not seem, at a first glance, to fulfill exactly what I am looking for.

Do you know by any chance if this software can manage what I described above ?

Thanks.
